The iconic Exotic Pulse Rifle No Time to Explain remains a fan-favorite primary weapon in Destiny 2 due to its time-bending capabilities. Originally awarded to Guardians following the Beyond Light campaign, unlocking its full potential involves completing a specific exotic quest chain. Understanding how to acquire the base rifle and upgrade it with its Exotic Catalyst ensures players maximize their combat efficiency in both PvE and PvP activities.
How to Acquire No Time to Explain
To obtain No Time to Explain, players must complete the main story campaign of the Beyond Light expansion on Europa. Once the campaign is completed, players can visit the Exo Stranger in Beyond Light to receive the Exotic Pulse Rifle directly. If your kinetic inventory slot is full at the time of completion, the weapon can be retrieved from your Collections tab under Kinetic Exotics.
Starting the Soon Exotic Catalyst Quest
Along with the base weapon, the Exo Stranger provides players with an exotic quest titled Soon. This quest leads Guardians through a series of tasks on Europa aimed at unlocking the weapon's Exotic Catalyst. The initial objective requires collecting five schematic code fragments by defeating combatants inside the Bray Exoscience facility in Cadmus Ridge.
Defeating Vex Targets in Europa Locations
After acquiring the schematics, players must eliminate Vex across multiple locations on Europa using No Time to Explain. Target areas include the Nexus, the Well of Infinitude, and completing the Glassway Strike while the weapon is equipped. Returning to the Exo Stranger upon fulfilling these criteria completes the quest and awards the catalyst.
Unlocking and Upgrading the Exotic Catalyst
Once you acquire the catalyst, it must be fully upgraded by eliminating 700 combatants with No Time to Explain. Equipping the upgraded catalyst increases the rate of fire of the time portal summoned by the weapon's perk. This bonus significantly improves overall damage output during long fireteam engagements and solo play alike.
